#Sharing #excerpt from #romance #AgainstAllRules

Hi everyone,

Sharing an excerpt from the first book I published as indie author. Against All Rules is very close to my heart since it marks my debut into the world of self publishing. It taught me a lot. Since then many books have been launched and some did better than it, but the accolades won by this remain cherished.

It’s a sizzling snippet, so beware! *wink *

Excerpt:

At last he saw the acknowledgement in her eyes. They softened and glowed as though she was reliving the surge of sensations they both had been enveloped in. How could this girl, whom he would have said he was unlikely to find desirable, arouse such a potent awareness in him so that he found himself locked in the hazel pools of her eyes, pulled in till he had no volition left of his own and was only dimly aware when he found he was cupping her jaw, bending to kiss her and then it didn’t matter because a bare couple of inches didn’t take much to cover. Not when he was being sucked in by a force larger than his resistance. Not when the prize was the contact of her soft lips. He needed to touch those, have them under his, taste the ripe flavor of her heat, soft and sweet and infinitely giving. Then he was tasting it all. Arousing. Passionately generous. He wanted it to go on forever. He wanted to end the light exploration and deepen it into complete abandon.

Blurb:

Desire which breaks all rules…
Samara, the cool and efficient office assistant at work, is hopelessly attracted to her boss. Strong as the attraction is, she’s equally determined to keep it a secret from the suave tycoon, Tahir Virani.
Tahir, the distant and at times, sarcastic boss, has no time for Samara. Embittered and cynical after his failed marriage, he has no intention of getting involved and certainly not in anything long term.
A kiss changes everything. The office logistics go haywire as awareness zooms to level ‘O’. Soon, one thing is clear, they can no longer ignore each other.
But Tahir has clearly no intention of breaking his office protocol and Samara would never settle for a fling.
When the fire is set, who can avoid the blaze?

A superb #review for #AAR #AgainstAllRules

“Like the molten chocolate in a choco-lava cake”

says Lata Sony at Amazon.

This review was posted quite some time back but foegot to share it, so sharing now.

The rest of the review:

The hot and mushy scenes keep flowing like molten chocolate in a choco-lava cake. What I liked best though was the psychology of the characters that was believable and yet not heavy enough to come into the way of passion. Some romance readers are known to skip the serious parts to get to the hot stuff, but in this book the complexity of the personalities kept the feel of romance more lingering. Near the end my interest waned as the story got inevitably predictable, but it engaged me immensely the rest of the time. I ought to give a lot of credit for this to Summerita for her descriptive body actions and feelings. Sample this – His heart felt like a lead balloon squeezing breath from his chest. Entertaining novel, even thought-provoking to those interested in complex personalities. I thought I had long out-grown romance novels, but looks like I was just missing good quality romance like that in “Against All Rules” 🙂

Sharing an excerpt from Against All Rules: A relationship story with a touch of escapism

Excerpt:
In this, Samara finds Tahir in a bitter mood in the aftermath of getting his divorce final.
……………..

He was so absorbed in the inner demons that accosted him that he hadn’t noticed her. Samara bit her lip as she took in the unruly dark hair falling over half his forehead in disarray and the shadow darkening his jaw. More than that, it was the way he slouched in the sofa and the way his mouth was compressed in a grim bitter line as he stared into the golden liquid in the glass he held that spoke of the darkness he was sunk in.
She inhaled as she tried to suppress a wave of anguish. Pain that lanced her because she could feel his pain. Feel it as her own.
She’d come here, driven by an overriding conviction that he needed someone to be with him. But it took some seconds to gain control over her emotions.
‘Tahir.’
His gaze swung towards her, dark eyes fixing on her. She tried to keep calm as she took in the familiar attractive planes of his face, the hard jaw, the sharply angled cheekbones, the well-shaped mouth, the intense eyes.
‘What are you doing here?’ His voice was rough. ‘Is there a problem at the office?
You could’ve called me. As you see, I’m in no condition to receive visitors.’ Samara caught her breath. If he only knew the effect he was having on her, in faded denims that were moulded to his body, the white shirt that was open halfway to his waist, revealing crisp dark chest hair shadowing golden skin.
She dragged her gaze from his lean, muscled body that clothes could only delineate, not conceal.
‘Everything’s fine,’ she assured him quickly. ‘It’s just that you sounded so…You shouldn’t be drinking this much. It isn’t good for your health.’ Concern gave a husky edge to her appeal.
‘Health?’ He glanced at the amber liquid swirling in the narrow glass as he raised it to eye level. ‘It’s good for my mental health.’ As though to emphasize the point he downed the contents in a go. Shock ran through her in a wave.
‘Tahir, I’ve never seen you like this before…’ she protested.
His answer was a short chuckle, the sardonic edge echoing round the room. ‘My marriage is officially over. Over. The so successful Tahir Virani has failed. And Elaine couldn’t wait to tell me how eager she is to remarry…to underline how much it was my fault we couldn’t make it work.’
Samara inhaled at the unexpected pain his words evoked. His admission that his break-up had hurt him was somehow not easy to listen to.
He got up. Instinctively she moved towards him as he swayed on his feet. His gaze turned to her, pinning her where she stood, warning her off.
‘Why are you really here?’ he demanded, ‘To satisfy your curiosity? See what your boss looks like down and beaten – and drunk?’

#Excerpt #AgainstAllRules #contemporary #romance

An excerpt from contemporary romance Against All Rules. The dialogue starts with Tahir. In this, Tahir finally admits he’s attracted to Samara.
……………….
‘I have tried to fight it, Samara. Like you, I did my damnest to ignore this…’

Tahir saw the surprise in her eyes as her head jerked up.

‘Last night, it wasn’t about Elaine, all I could think was how to stay away from you…’ Was he confessing this to her? This was wrong but as though he was compelled to say them, the words were forming. ‘Then today on the dance floor…’ At last he saw the acknowledgement in her eyes. He let his tongue trace and probe the sweetness, his hands curve on her soft form till the awakening of his senses gelled into a muscle tensing awareness of her that he could feel hardening at his crotch.

Yet he couldn’t let go. His hands moved and cupped her breasts, exploring curves that demanded his touch as though made to be possessed by his hands. Heat grew into a bold tension, a throbbing that craved release. He could feel his blood pound faster through his veins as he drew her hard against his body. She felt so good that it wasn’t enough. He wanted her losing that precious control, hair splayed, her body arching in need, his name on her lips as she enclosed him in slick heat.

A red signal flashed in his brain and he lifted his head, his voice deep and grating, ‘You’ll agree we’re way past thinking of rules.’
